I don't have access to a Z table right now so I'll try to explain as best I can. Suppose you want to find the Z value of 1.63 .... well, with the table you'll have on the exam you can find the z values for 1.6 and 1.7 .... 1.63 falls between those values. What you do is subtract the Z value for 1.6 from the Z value from 1.7 (let's say the result is some number X)... then divide X by 10 and, because of symmetry, you can find the z-values between 1.6 and 1.7 in increments of 10ths. Since X represents a tenth of the difference between 1.6 and 1.7 you can find 1.63 by saying 3X + (z value for 1.6) = z value for 1.63 This would be easier to explain if I had a table.
